….Founder Urges Government Collaboration to Combat Poverty and Hardship
The Jedidiah Divine Home of Love (JEDLOF), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the less privileged, has concluded its last quarter activities for 2024 with a distribution of essential items to over 300 widows, widowers, and children in Abia Udi, Enugu State.
The founder of JEDLOF, Dr. (Mrs.) Ebele Okoye, a former General Manager at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), acknowledged the widespread poverty and hardship in the country, urging government and organizations to collaborate with foundations like JEDLOF to reach areas where they may not be able to reach on their own.
Dr. Okoye, who attributed the organization’s vision to God, expressed gratitude to its few committed partners who have been supporting the organization’s work.
She revealed that JEDLOF’s next outreach program is scheduled for March 2024 in Lagos.
During the distribution, JEDLOF provided food items, assisted some widows in paying their children’s school fees and examination fees, rebuilt houses in some cases, and gave cash gifts to support small businesses.
She emphasized the need for government to create more industries and engage young people to help their parents, citing the high level of unemployment and the resulting desperation that leads some young people to join criminal gangs.
According to Okoye, “A lot of young people have joined bad gangs of people killing, maiming not because they desired it but because of difficulties. Children will complete their university studies and no job while their parents are getting old and needed help.”
JEDLOF’s efforts aim to identify with and support the most vulnerable members of society, including widows, widowers, and children.
The organization’s commitment to empowering these individuals is a testament to its dedication to making a positive impact in the community.
