The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA has been called on to address flight delays and cancellations by domestic airlines in order to reduce the sufferings of travellers.

Mrs. Nnenna Akajemili, National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM in the Presidency who made the call in Lagos at the just concluded customers service week organised by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN noted that passengers including herself have suffered untold hardships in the hands of domestic airlines as a result of unending flight cancellations, delays, saying it was not in the interest of the country and the economy.

“What we are taking forward is calling on the NCAA and all of the stakeholders to turn all of the strategies and all of the policies, all of the documents, their mandate every standard to regulate and ensure that people get served right at all airports, they should begin to activate it now and that is the only way we can celebrate even a greater magic come next year 2020.
This magic happens in all other airports all over the world and it can also happen in Nigeria and that is why we are calling on the NCAA to arise just like we are to serve fatherland in a honest and transparent manner “

She urged NCAA to further work on the customer rights as Nigerians want the regulatory body to immediately do something about these issues.

She noted that a passenger would leave his/her house at 9am and would stay at the airport till 4pm waiting for flight as a result of cancellations and delays.

“Here is encouraging the NCAA, to work on customer rights and ensure that delays are minimized, reduced, Nigerians are crying out and so on behalf of all Nigerians, this is requesting that NCAA should work around this to reduce to the barest minimum instances of necessary and unnecessary delays. Somebody has to travel at 9am he is at the airport till 4pm”

Akajemili urged stakeholders to collaborate with FAAN to achieve customer friendly airports across the country noting that FAAN can not do it alone.

“Looking at the services given at the airport, am sure you would agree with me that is also very key that the stakeholders also play their role that they must work together to deliver and package quality and excellent services to the people and so FAAN cannot do this magic alone and so that is also the message that should go out to the stakeholders”
