
Heads of security services, airport manager, airlines and other stakeholders at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA Lagos today gathered to celebrate the Comptroller Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, MMIA Abdullahi Dalhatu as he bowed out of service.
His 35 years of meritorious services in the NIS was described worthy of mention as heads of security agencies eulogized the positive impart made during his short stay at the airport.
The MMIA Manager, Mrs. Victoria Shinaba in her remarks described Comptroller Dalhatu as a man of humility, diligent in his duties, hardworking, an astute administrator and unassuming.
She said, his absence at the airport would be felt greatly, adding that, his proactiveness in resolving issues was second to none.
“We had very nice working relationship, he is a gentleman to the core, someone that believes in teamwork, someone that believes in getting things done and doing it the right way”.
Other heads of security agencies, customs, NDLEA, DSS, Police applauded the outgoing Comptroller Immigration for his selfless service, humility, his style of leadership, synergy, fatherly role and open door policy.
While wishing Comptroller Dalhatu good health in retirement, they appealed to him to use his wealth of experience to assist them in discharging their duties and not to hesitant to call them to order when he observed things were not being done the way it should.
Responding, CIS Dalhatu thanked all who have traveled from far to witness and honour him on his retirement.
He also appreciated God for the successes he had achieved in his 35 years in service and for giving him good health to serve fatherland and contribute his quota to building the service to an enviable heights.
Dalhatu also used the occasion to appeal to officers of the NIS to be alive to their duties and be dedicated.
He urged them to be vigilant, be patient and loyal.
“There are three things that if you imbibe you AI succeed in life, one patience, pray to God to bless you with patience, I believe it worked for me, two, be loyal where ever you find yourself, be loyal to constituted authority, be loyal to your superiors, show commitment and dedication to duty”.
“I will encourage my colleagues and those am leaving behind to please work hard and show commitment, be dedicated and be vigilant especially in the face of emerging global terrorism”.
The finale of the event was the cutting of the retirement cake and presentation of gifts to the retiring comptroller and five of his other colleagues.
