Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC has further solidified its standing as a leading aviation ground handler, securing the British Airways Safety and Punctuality Bronze Awards for its Lagos and Abuja stations for the first quarter of 2025.

This recognition underscores SAHCO’s consistent adherence to British Airways’ stringent punctuality targets and its unwavering commitment to the highest safety standards within the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific region.

According to a statement released by SAHCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Vanessa Uansohia, the awards acknowledge the company’s exceptional performance in delivering seamless ground handling services throughout the specified period.

Notably, both the Lagos and Abuja stations achieved British Airways’ Adjusted Departure Closure (aDC) target of 96% each month, highlighting SAHCO’s dedication to operational excellence.

Regional General Manager for British Airways, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, Hellen O’Connor, lauded SAHCO’s contributions, stating, “Safety and punctuality are pillars of the aviation industry. We congratulate SAHCO in Lagos and Abuja for their outstanding contributions in achieving our Q1 punctuality goals.”

SAHCO has a strong track record with these awards, consistently earning recognition across various categories since their inception.

In the preceding year alone, the Lagos station received Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum awards, while Abuja secured a Bronze award, demonstrating the company’s continuous pursuit of excellence.

Expressing her gratitude, SAHCO’s Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, thanked British Airways for the continued recognition.

“We are delighted to receive this honour. SAHCO is committed to providing world-class ground handling services with the use of advanced, eco-friendly equipment. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team nationwide.”

In a parallel recognition of its safety commitment, SAHCO PLC and its Assistant General Manager for Safety and Quality Assurance, Mrs. Christy Oseghale, were honored with the Special Safety Merit Award at the 2025 Nigeria Safety & Security (NSAS) Awards and Lecture.

Organized by Safety & Security Watch (SSWatch) Magazine to commemorate the ILO World Day for Safety and Health, the award specifically recognized Mrs. Oseghale as a Safety Champion for her leadership in fostering a safety-first culture, contributing to national awareness, and elevating industry benchmarks.

Mrs. Oseghale expressed her deep appreciation, stating, “I’m deeply honoured by this recognition. At SAHCO, safety is not negotiable. We are committed to safeguarding lives, equipment, and operations through best-in-class safety standards.”

Dr. Chinyere Amaechi, Managing Editor of SSWatch Magazine, affirmed SAHCO’s dedication to safety, noting, “SAHCO prioritizes safety in every aspect of its operations. The company’s multiple certifications and gender-inclusive safety culture reflect its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most compliant aviation service providers.”
