The Rotary Club Ikeja Airport has unveiled signage at the roundabout leading into the domestic airport terminal to direct passengers who are not too familiar with the environment.
The signage is conspicuous approaching the airport with the colors of the club and its 4-way test inscriptions on the four sides of the signage.
Rotary Club District Governor 9110, Mr. Remi Bello said, this is one of those service project they do in their immediate environment, adding that, it is not the first time rotary club is executing projects at the airport.
“We need to promote our image we need to serve our community that is a service project”.
Giving reasons for the directional sign, the DG 9110 said, many first timers and passengers to the airport have missed their way and flights because there are no signs to assist them get to their destinations.
With this sign post, he emphasized that, passengers and visitors will be well guided.
“It is a directional sign, this is a gateway where you have visitors most people that are coming here don’t know their routes so that will assist them directing their routes, it is lime a GPS for them”.
Earlier, the Rotary Club District Governor paid visit to the Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu were he solicited the agency’s partnership and collaboration in the execution of projects in the airport community.
“Our visit is part of Community engagement, we are seeking collaboration, partnership, We have been charged to do more collaboration, partnership we the management of FAAN to cooperate with partner with us, we have areas we can work together to lift the life of people to serve them”.
He listed their areas of focus to include; Eradication of polio, conflict resolution,Water sanitation and hygiene, disease prevention and treatment, economic, community development and supporting the environment
Responding, the MD FAAN, represented by the General Manager Commercial services, Mrs. Francisca Sonaike said, FAAN will give the needed support to the club in order to serve the community better in its humanitarian service.
“We have assisted in putting your boxes at the airport and I would say a very big thank you to everyone of you fro partnering us”.
“God bless you and continue to give you wisdom with which to put funds together because I know it is not something easy to do, you have to dig deep into your pockets to do these projects”.
The visit climaxed with the presentation of gifts to the FAAN MD by the club and from FAAN to the club by the president of the Rotary Club Ikeja, Airport, Mr. Eta Neji. The Club’s DG was accompanied on the visit by some Rotarians from the district.
