Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, founder of United Nigeria Airline, has announced he is stepping aside from his role to pursue his governorship ambitions.

Speaking at a recent event marking the airline’s fourth anniversary, Prof. Okonkwo expressed confidence in the airline’s future, stating, “United Nigeria Airline is in very great, competent hands and very reliable people that I am very proud of what I’ve done.”

He assured staff and stakeholders that his departure is not permanent.

“You will be seeing me as often as you want. I’m not gone forever. I’m still around,” he said, emphasizing his faith in divine guidance.

He officially handed over leadership to the Safety Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO), entrusting him with “all the mandate and powers that he needs to continue to stay and captain the ship.”

Reflecting on the airline’s journey, the UNA founder acknowledged the challenges and successes of the past four years.

He highlighted the “lessons learned, building a great community of workforce,” and expressed gratitude for the support received.

Prof. Okonkwo specifically thanked the media team for their “love, understanding, and cooperation” which he credited as being crucial to the airline’s celebrations.
