Prof. Charles Anosike has officially assumed the role of Director General/CEO at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on December 12, 2023.

The transition ceremony, held at NiMet headquarters in Abuja, marked the symbolic passing of leadership from outgone CEO Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu.

In his remarks, Prof. Anosike, underscored the pivotal role of meteorological services in driving the nation’s sustainable development and highlighted NiMet’s multifaceted impact across various sectors of the economy.

He emphasized the agency’s crucial contributions and expressed his commitment to elevating NiMet’s performance to world-class standards.

The new DG NiMet, outlined a vision for excellence, pledging to implement strategic initiatives with the support of the staff, ensuring NiMet remains a beacon of precision and reliability in meteorological services.

Prof. Charles Anosike assured stakeholders of his commitment to fulfilling NiMet’s mandate through a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

He pledged to build on past successes and position NiMet as a global leader in weather forecasting and climate information dissemination.

Outgone Director-General Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu congratulated Prof. Charles Anosike and voiced confidence in his ability to lead NiMet to greater heights. 

Prof. Matazu expressed optimism about the transformative leadership Prof. Anosike would bring to the agency, highlighting the collective responsibility of fostering a conducive environment for innovation and excellence.
