The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is probing the circumstances surrounding United Nigeria Flight NUA 0506 to Asaba, sparked by the diversion of the Abuja-bound aircraft due to reported bad weather.
Passengers faced confusion when the cabin crew mistakenly announced landing in Abuja upon reaching Asaba airport.
Capt. Musa Nuhu, the Director General of NCAA, in a statement confirmed preliminary steps in the investigation, including the suspension of all wet lease aircraft in United Nigeria Airline’s fleet.
Conflicting reports emerged, with the airline attributing the diversion to bad weather, while Abuja’s Air Traffic Control asserted favorable conditions.
The NCAA vows a thorough investigation to uphold aviation safety.
