The Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, has promised to investigate the allegations by some stakeholders that the Port Harcourt International Airport is unsafe for flight operations.

At the recently concluded 2-day stakeholders meeting organized by the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria, AIB-N in Abuja, some stakeholders were alleged to have complained about the state of Instrument Landing Systems, ILS at the airport as well as the deplorable state of some other critical facilities.

Reacting on the matter, the DG who said, they were unaware of these complaints said, it would embark on an inspection of the airport to ascertain the truthfulness of the allegations.

“Am really surprised by this report on port Harcourt airport, I have my Director on aerodrome and airspace standards, have not received any report on such issues in port Harcourt airport and neither have I have received such issues from my regional manager in port Harcourt who sends me messages on a daily basis on the activities happening in port Harcourt”.

While acknowledging that, there was no organization that does not have challenges, he assured that, they do not have anything to hide and would work with FAAN to address any problem if discovered at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

“However, we will do our investigation, we don’t hide things, we are open, there is no place or no organization or no country that does not have challenges, what is important is, when you discover the challenges or brought to your notice, you at resolving it and I think that is the most important thing”

“But for now, am not aware of anything unsafe in port Harcourt but since you brought it up we will still look into it, I will demand a report from my station manager in PH, we will go do an inspection, if there is anything, they will let us know and I will work together with the management of FAAN on resolving it”.
