Chairman of Air Peace Airline Limited, Mr. Allen Onyema says, there is an urgent need for synergy among all stakeholders to fortify Nigeria’s aviation security framework.
Addressing a distinguished audience comprising regulators, operators, security experts, and aviation professionals at a high level security symposium in Lagos, Dr. Onyema commended the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for convening the timely and pertinent symposium.
The symposium with the theme: “Fundamentality of Aviation Security in Achieving the Safe-Skies Goal”, he asserted that aviation security transcends mere procedural compliance, defining it as the very “lifeblood” of the industry.
In light of escalating global threats, ranging from cyber intrusions to internal vulnerabilities and acts of terrorism, the Air Peace boss, emphasized the imperative for a dynamic and continuously evolving security architecture within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
He also unequivocally stated that a siloed approach is insufficient to address these complex challenges effectively.
“No one agency or operator can do it alone,” Dr. Onyema cautioned, advocating for a concerted effort involving airlines, airport authorities, security agencies, regulators, and private sector partners.
Onyema illustrated Air Peace’s commitment to this collaborative ethos through substantial investments in advanced security technology, ongoing staff training, and strategic institutional alliances.
Beyond technological solutions, the Air Peace Chairman repeated the crucial role of cultivating a security-conscious mindset across the aviation ecosystem.
He emphasized that unwavering vigilance, robust intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and uncompromising adherence to regulations must become deeply ingrained cultural norms.
Dr. Onyema urged participants to ensure the symposium catalyzes tangible, collective action rather than becoming a mere forum for discussion.
He passionately appealed for the sharing of best practices, the open discussion of critical issues, and a firm commitment to achieving practical outcomes.
Reaffirming Air Peace’s dedication to collaborative endeavors and the pursuit of aviation excellence, Dr. Onyema concluded with a powerful statement: “Our passengers deserve nothing less, and our future as an aviation nation depends on it.”
His message serves as a potent reminder of the urgent need for Nigeria’s aviation sector to move decisively beyond dialogue towards unified and resolute action in safeguarding the skies.
