NSE Honours Chief Leemon Ikpea with Honorary Fellowship Award

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has conferred an Honorary Fellowship Award on Chief (Dr.) Leemon A. Ikpea, CON, JP, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the engineering profession and the development of Nigeria’s oil, gas, and power industries.

The award ceremony, held at the NSE Headquarters, was presided over by Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, President of NSE and Chairman-in-Council, alongside Engr. Maliki Kamila, mni, FNSE, Chairman of the Board of Fellows.

Chief Ikpea, Group Chairman and CEO of Lee Engineering Group and Allied Companies Limited, is celebrated for his visionary leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s Local Content Initiative. 

With over 46 years of experience in the industry, his company employs more than 3,000 people and has made significant contributions to the growth of local capacity in engineering and fabrication.

Engr. Oguntala praised Chief Ikpea’s achievements, stating, “Chief Ikpea’s contributions have significantly advanced the engineering landscape in Nigeria. This honorary award reflects our deep appreciation for his impact on the industry and society.”

Echoing this sentiment, Engr. Kamila commended Chief Ikpea’s investments in local fabrication facilities and his philanthropic efforts, which include community development and youth empowerment initiatives through his foundation.

Chief Ikpea has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the national honor of Commander of the Order of Niger (CON), further underscoring his enduring legacy in the engineering and energy sectors.
