The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has joined the chorus of congratulations to Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on her appointment as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), hailing it as a significant milestone for gender inclusion in the judiciary and national leadership.
In a statement, NSE President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, expressed deep pride at seeing another woman rise to the nation’s highest judicial office, following in the footsteps of Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, who became Nigeria’s first female CJN in 2021.
She stated that, Justice Kekere-Ekun’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and her exemplary judicial career have earned her widespread recognition, and her appointment reflects the growing recognition of women’s contributions to leadership in all sectors.
The NSE President emphasized the importance of breaking gender barriers in Nigeria, noting that Justice Kekere-Ekun’s elevation symbolizes progress in creating equal opportunities for women in positions of influence and decision-making.
According to her, the NSE has long been a champion of diversity and inclusion, and the organization has made significant strides in supporting and empowering female engineers through platforms such as the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN).
