A delegation from the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Executive Committee recently embarked on a working visit to the construction sites of the Opebi-Mende Bridge and Marina Train Station in Lagos.

The visit, which took place on October 11, 2024, provided an opportunity for the engineers to assess the progress of the projects and offer technical insights to ensure their successful completion.

The Opebi-Mende Bridge project as contained in a statement by the NSE, is being handled by Julius Berger Construction, aims to alleviate traffic congestion between Opebi and Mende in Maryland, Lagos.

The bridge is expected to significantly reduce travel time and ease traffic flow in the area.

The NSE engineers were impressed by the level of work progress and engaged with Julius Berger engineers on-site to discuss challenges and solutions implemented to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

The Marina Train Station, another critical project being undertaken by Julius Berger, is set to become a major hub for rail services in Lagos.

It will facilitate easier and faster travel for residents, transforming public transportation in the city.

The NSE engineers inspected the site and provided technical recommendations to support the continued development of this vital project.

The statement adds that, the working visit underscores the NSE’s commitment to supporting national infrastructural growth and ensuring that engineering standards are upheld in the ongoing transformation of Lagos’ transport landscape.

The society’s involvement in the projects demonstrates its dedication to promoting excellence in engineering and contributing to the development of the country’s infrastructure.
