The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says, there will be no hiding place for drug trafficking cartels operating in Edo State, vowing to intensify efforts to combat illicit cannabis cultivation, drug trafficking, and related crimes.

The warning was given by Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, who has taken over as the new head of the NDLEA in Edo State.

According to him, the agency’s mandate under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa is to enforce zero tolerance for illicit drug production and trafficking.

He emphasized that the agency will not tolerate drug criminals exploiting communities and destroying lives, and warned cartels to quit their criminal activities or face imminent arrest and prosecution.

Commander Ofoyeju, a seasoned officer with a wealth of experience in media relations, drug law enforcement, and demand reduction, has been instrumental in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse at the Tincan Island Port Strategic Command.

He noted that drugs are inextricably linked to crime and pose serious risks to society, emphasizing his commitment to tackling the drug problem in Edo State.

The NDLEA boss called on members of the public to cooperate with the agency in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, stressing that effective drug control will not only secure the future of young people but also prevent crime rates in the state.

He said the agency is committed to advancing the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign initiative of Gen Buba Marwa through supply control and demand reduction.

With his experience and leadership skills, Commander Ofoyeju is expected to further advance the agency’s mission and mandate in Edo State.

The NDLEA’s crackdown on drug trafficking in Edo State is part of a broader effort to enhance operational efficiency and rid the country of the scourge of illicit drugs.
