The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) has taken a major step towards enhancing the aviation capacity of South Sudan.
This follows a visit by a delegation from the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, led by its Director General, John Woja Eliana.
The visit, which was directed by President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan, aimed to establish a partnership between NCAT and the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU seeks to provide technical and managerial training to South Sudanese aviation professionals, addressing the country’s human capacity gaps in the aviation industry.
During the visit, the delegation toured NCAT’s facilities, commending the college’s cutting-edge equipment, comprehensive training programs, and highly skilled instructional staff.
NCAT’s Rector, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, expressed his appreciation for the interest shown in the college’s programs, which are certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a Regional Training Centre of Excellence with Platinum Status.
Dr. Ismaila assured the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority of NCAT’s readiness to provide training that meets their aviation industry needs, emphasizing that the college’s programs will equip South Sudanese aviation professionals with the necessary competencies to launch and develop their civil aviation sector.
The two parties have agreed to collaborate on both long-term and short-term training programs, with some specific training sessions to be conducted in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
The MoU signing marks a significant milestone in the partnership, paving the way for the implementation of the training agreement.
This partnership is expected to boost the aviation capacity of South Sudan, supporting the country’s potential in tourism development and enhancing connectivity.
