NCAA Vows to Uphold International Safety Standards After Dana Airline Runway Incident

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA has assured the travelling public of its commitment to upholding international safety standards for all operators and service providers.

The AG. Director General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo speaking on the runway incident involving a Dana Airline aircraft today at the Lagos airport said, upon landing the Air Traffic Control Tower observed the nose wheel retracting, causing the nose to collapse and the aircraft to veer off the runway into a grassy area. 

He said, fortunately, with 83 passengers and 6 crew members onboard the aircraft safely disembarked, and Runway 18L was closed. 

According to him, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has initiated an investigation into the incident. 

The NCAA reaffirms its dedication to a safe aviation sector and will implement safety recommendations from the investigation while conducting its own assessment.
