The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed sanctions on Kenya Airways following a review of several consumer protection-related complaints.
As disclosed on the twitter handle of the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NCAA, Mr Michael Achimugu, the airline has been found guilty of violating the rights of three passengers, including Gloria Omisore, by failing to provide adequate care, disclosing terms of carriage, and processing refunds and compensation.
As a result, Kenya Airways has been issued a fine in accordance with the NCAA Regulations 2023.
In the letter, the airline has been given a seven-day ultimatum to pay refunds and compensation totaling $1,000 special drawing rights to the affected passengers.
The authority’s action reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights of air travelers and promoting a fair and transparent aviation industry.
It has warned that failure to comply with the sanctions will attract stiffer penalties for the airline.
This move is aimed at ensuring that airlines operating in Nigeria adhere to consumer protection regulations and provide satisfactory services to their customers.
