
The International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO has introduced a new format for birds and wildlife strike reporting.
ICAO says the European Coordinating Centre for Accidents and Incidents Reporting System Excel-based format will now be used for bird strike Information System
To this end, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has notified Pilots, Airports, Airline Operators and Aircraft Engineers of a change in Birds and Wildlife strike IBIS, reporting format System reporting.
This notification was contained in an advisory circular dated 30th
July, 2019 to all airports/airport, Pilots and aircraft Engineers and
was signed by the Director, Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Engineer T.A Odunowo for Director General NCAA.
In view of the above and in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2015, Part 12.6.23.2 and Aerodrome Standards Manual (ASM), Section 13.2.4.2, it is therefore mandatory that you forward to NCAA, Directorate of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS) using the attached IBIS-ECCAIRS form for all Bird and Wildlife strikes at your Aerodromes on or before thirty (30) days of occurrence for the submission.
The Authority added,”Please note that the IBIS-ECCAIRS form can also be downloaded at www.icao.int/IBIS. Also note thatin alternative, the submission can be made to the following email addresses: bird_wildfire@ncaa.gov.ng, mohammed.odunowo@ncaa.gov.ng and Adebayo.opeloyeru@ncaa.gov.ng“.
