The Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, has emphasized the critical importance of revenue generation and administrative efficiency within the aviation sector.

Speaking at the Aviation Finance and Revenue Assurance Summit in Lagos, Capt. Najomo noted the event as a key component of the NCAA’s strategy to revitalize the industry for international competitiveness and sustainable growth.

He applauded the support of the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, for this initiative.

The summit with the theme “Enhancing Cost Recovery Capabilities and Administrative Efficiency,” aims to address funding challenges that have contributed to service deficiencies and suboptimal passenger experiences.

The DGCA stressed the need for a collaborative approach between the NCAA and domestic airlines to improve revenue collection and ensure compliance with financial reporting obligations.

He acknowledged that a lack of synergy between the NCAA’s revenue units and airline financial management teams has hindered revenue performance.

The summit seeks to bridge this gap by providing training and knowledge sharing on topics ranging from financial management and cost reduction to revenue optimization and leadership skills.

Capt. Najomo expressed optimism that the summit will mark a turning point, fostering a more inclusive regulatory model that drives growth, economic viability, and enhanced safety and passenger experience.

He acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigeria and emphasized the importance of aligning the aviation sector with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s eight-point agenda and the Minister’s five-point agenda for the sector.

Emphasizing that the NCAA is committed to improving its own efficiency and operational effectiveness, noting that the summit is a direct response to these challenges.

He harped on the need for improved working capital management within airlines and better understanding of statutory obligations.

The Director General, Civil Aviation commended the project steering committee and the Directorate of Finance and Accounts for their work in organizing the summit.
