The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says, it is increasing and tightening its monitoring of flight operations across all airlines in the country, with a strong emphasis on ensuring compliance with regulations and global best practices.
In a meeting with management staff of Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest domestic operator, NCAA Director General, Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, reiterated the authority’s commitment to supporting airlines while stressing the need for strict adherence to rules.
The NCAA’s move is seen as a bold step towards ensuring that airlines operating in Nigeria prioritize the safety and satisfaction of passengers.
Captain Najomo directed Air Peace to immediately address chronic flight delays and cancellations that have been plaguing the airline’s domestic operations.
Citing complaints from the traveling public, the DGCA advised Air Peace to scale down its operations to match the size of its available fleet, in a bid to mitigate the crisis.
He stressed that, the authority’s efforts aim to promote a culture of compliance and responsibility among airlines, ultimately enhancing the overall air travel experience for Nigerians.
The airline representatives acknowledged the challenges they are facing, but assured that they are working tirelessly to resolve them.
