… “Attacks Won’t Deter Me..Acting DG
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reiterated its commitment to aviation safety, assuring stakeholders that the country’s airspace is now safer due to improved safety surveillance measures.
Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, made this announcement during the NCAA’s annual New Year prayer session held at the Authority’s corporate headquarters in Abuja on January 2.
The event also marked the commencement of activities for NCAA’s 25th anniversary celebration.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Capt. Najomo highlighted the impact of enhanced safety protocols, stating, “With our intensified safety surveillance measures, the Nigerian airspace is safer now. We are committed to ensuring that every airline complies with regulations.”
He also commended the support of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and the aviation minister’s five-point agenda, which have strengthened the Authority’s operational capacity.
“Our directors are on ground, and we will continue to enforce compliance. Recently, we sanctioned five airlines for failing to refund tickets promptly, and they have now agreed to pay on time,” Najomo added.
The Acting Director-General reaffirmed his dedication to his duties despite what he described as “sponsored fabricated stories” aimed at distracting him.
“These attacks do not affect my work. I am resolute in delivering on my core responsibilities. My confirmation is in the hands of Mr. President, and when the time comes, he will act accordingly”.
On staff welfare, Capt. Najomo emphasized efforts to improve working conditions, including digitalizing operations for greater efficiency.
He highlighted innovations such as the establishment of a Flight Data Center and the deployment of portals like CPD and DATR to enhance service delivery.
The event’s highlight was the hoisting of the NCAA @25 flag and the unveiling of an anniversary monument by Capt. Najomo, accompanied by senior management and staff members.
The NCAA’s 25th anniversary celebrations will feature a series of activities aimed at showcasing its achievements and commitment to advancing aviation safety and efficiency in Nigeria.
