This is good news for staff of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, as the Management has jetisoned its earlier decision to pay incomplete salaries to GL 8 and above staff for the month of June.
In a meeting held yesterday via zoom to confront the management on the matter and other issues, the Managing Director NAMA Captain Fola Akinkuotu denied approving pay cuts of any staff in whatever level.
He is reported to have said, the Management has no intention of doing so thereby referring to the purported report of the alleged pay cut as mere ‘rumour’.
The pronouncement off course calmed fray nerves of participants at the virtual meeting.
The MD NAMA acknowledged the Union and all the collaborative efforts over time and all the Workers who has kept the flag flying even in these perilous times of COVID-19 pandemic.
He also highlighted without mincing words the impact of the COVID 19 on NAMA’s customers (both Local and International) which has consequently led to NAMA’s dwindling income revenue generation and the concomitant inability of the Organization to totally fulfill its financial obligations with no bailout in sight from government.
While confirming that it is really a hard time now, he said the Management is doing its best to make Workers’ welfare paramount.
He expressed the hope that NAMA gets a bailout from the government and or for the skies be opened and business resumes normally.
Present at the particular meeting (held via Zoom Meeting Network App in accordance with the social distancing guidelines) were MD/CE NAMA, DFA, GMFA, DHR, GMHR, DGMIR from the Management side.
The National Presidents and Secretaries of the union, President of NATCA and NAAE, the Branch Chairmen and and Secretaries of ATSSSAN, NUATE, AUPTRE and ANAP on the Union side.
