The Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Umar Farouk, has announced that plans to improve the condition of service for its staff have reached an advanced stage.

This move is part of efforts to ensure that the agency’s workforce is well remunerated and motivated.

According to Mr. Farouk, the new condition of service is in line with the aspirations of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, who has prioritized the creation of a supportive environment for workers.

The NAMA boss who announced this at this year’s Workers’ Day celebration organized by the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, ANAP, at the Lagos airport, commended the staff for their commitment and devotion to the services of the agency, noting that their hard work has contributed to the agency’s current level of success.

He revealed that the agency has engaged with representatives of the workforce in various workers’ unions to arrive at agreed-upon welfare packages.

The NAMA MD noted that since the inception of the current administration, the agency has made significant strides in improving staff welfare.

He disclosed that the agency has paid all staff and executed the condition of service inherited from the previous administration.

A committee has been set up with the unions to work on a new condition of service and minimum wage, which is at the concluding stage of discussion.

Mr. Farouk emphasized that the welfare packages are in line with the Minister’s vision and program, which prioritizes the welfare of workers.

He assured staff that the new condition of service, which has been overtaken by events, will be paid soon, and that several allowances, including outfit allowances, have been introduced.

The NAMA boss also disclosed that the agency has commenced another training session for all staff, which is aimed at enhancing their skills and capacity.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment to engaging with the unions and supporting staff to ensure that they are well taken care of.
