….OJT, equips personnel with practical skills
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has commenced a two-week on-the-job training program for Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEPS) in its Department of Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Power Systems.
The training, being held simultaneously in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, aims to equip participants with practical skills in maintaining and installing facilities.
This includes Automatic Mains Failure, Automatic Voltage Regular, Uninterruptible Power Supply, Solar Power Systems, and other critical infrastructure.
In a statement, the spokesman for NAMA, Mr. Abdullahi Musa said, during the training, participants will work closely with experienced supervisors to gain hands-on experience in welding, air-conditioning installation, and maintenance of solar power systems, as well as preventive and corrective maintenance of various equipment.
The program is designed to enhance the capacity of NAMA’s technical and operational staff, ensuring that the agency’s communication, navigation, and surveillance infrastructure operates seamlessly and efficiently in line with International Civil Aviation Standards and Recommended Practices.
According to NAMA’s Managing Director, Engr Farouk Ahmed Umar, the training is a key component of the agency’s commitment to increasing the capacity of its staff, with the ultimate goal of ensuring uninterrupted power supply to all installations across Nigeria, a critical factor in maintaining the safety of air travel.
He expressed optimism that the knowledge gained by participants will have a positive impact on the agency’s operations, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of Nigeria’s airspace.
