The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has achieved a major milestone with its elevation to the ISO 9001:2015 certification category, following a rigorous audit process conducted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The certification audit, which evaluated NAMA’s adherence to international quality management standards, covered operations at five international airports—Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Enugu.
It also extended to Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), charts, aeronautical publications, personnel competencies, office environments, working tools, and documentation processes.
Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony at NAMA’s headquarters annex in Lagos, the agency’s Managing Director, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, represented by the Director of Air Traffic Services, Mr. John Tayo, described the achievement as a testament to NAMA’s commitment to excellence in air navigation services.
Farouk emphasized that the certification aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), marking a significant step in ensuring safety and reliability in Nigerian airspace.
“With this certification, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering timely, reliable, and error-free services to airlines and other stakeholders”.
“It underscores our dedication to enhancing customer satisfaction and maintaining the highest standards in air navigation service provision.”
The ISO 9001:2015 certification is expected to enhance NAMA’s operational efficiency, positioning the agency as a leader in airspace management in Africa.
