………allays fear of job losses
The Nigeria Aviation Ground Handling Company, NAHCoaviance is set to stimulate business activities in the ground handling space in the Nigeria aviation industry using technology.
This is just as the Group Managing Director; Mrs. Olatokunbo Fagbemi says the company had rebranded the Mission and Vision of NAHCo to promote professionalism and a happy workforce.
The new vision is to be the leading service provider, to continuously innovate and reshape the market to attain an enviable height
In a chat with newsmen in Lagos, Mrs. Fagbemi who was recently appointed the GMD stressed that NAHCo was poised to change the face of ground handling business with the introduction of brand new equipment recently acquired to the tune of N1.9 billion.
“The company has invested about N1.9 billion on equipment in the last couple of months, this equipment would be shipped into Nigeria soon and by September this year,we would have invested close to N3.6 billion”.
She said more funds would be invested, adding that by September 2019, continuous investment in Ground Support Equipment, GSE would hit N3.6 billion, stressing that in the next five to six years of growth plan; NAHCOaviance would have assumed an enviable position that would be unequaled.
Fagbemi stressed that it facilities would be refurbished and refreshed to make them look better and improve on the processes and standards to achieve excellent service to retain and attract more customers.
“We are going to have a master plan for our facilities, we will also refurbish what we have; the warehouse, the buildings/structures and equipment too, we will do everything to attract customers, we will set new standards. We also know that we are in a business where our customers are stronger than us so there is pressure on pricing but that should not make us compromise safety and security”.
She added, “What we are doing immediately is to ensure we refurbish what we have in terms of our facilities, we will refresh them, make them look better that what we have, our buildings, warehouses and all that, we will improve on what we have, we will improve the processes, we will do everything to retain the customers that we have, we will do everything to attract new customers, in fact what we want to do is set new standards, bring professionalism into the air service business”.
The NAHCO GMD noted that in promoting professionalism, it would invest in automation and this new innovation would be used to drive the system.
’’NAHCO today is a leader in this industry and we want to maintain that leadership but we don’t want to be the leader without giving excellent service, we want to be the leader driving the business with new innovation, driving the systems and with the right processes and delivery service excellence in NAHCO’’.
She however explained that automation would not lead to job losses, adding that with automation, there would be more work and more businesses which would lead to more people being employed.
“We are going to invest in automation but automation does not mean people will be laid off because if there is more work and more business despite and in spite of the oscillation in growth, people will still be employed. I know when you have changes like this; the first is that people will be afraid, are we going to be laid off? But things will be different, we will bring more professionalism’’.
