….Spokesman Calls for Focus on Achievements Amid False Claims

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has firmly denied recent media reports alleging the purchase of a ₦250 million SUV for Captain Chris Najomo, the Acting Director-General.

Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NCAA, Michael Achimugu, in an interview, stated these accusations are demonstrably false and intended to malign Captain Najomo and the NCAA, adding that, since his appointment, the NCAA has not procured a single vehicle.

He challenged the source of these claims, urging them to present evidence to substantiate their accusations.

“I challenge the authors of this malicious story to come forward and publish evidence that they claim to have to support this kind of weighty allegation”.

The NCAA spokesman expressed full confidence in Captain Najomo’s leadership, highlighting the satisfaction of staff, unions, stakeholders, and the Minister with his performance.

“The staffers of the NCAA are happy with his leadership, the labour, the unions are happy, the honorable minister is happy, stakeholders are happy because the captain has made ease of doing business the crux of his action plan for 2024 and securing licenses has become a very easy process now for operators”.

Achimugu stressed that, Captain Najomo’s focus on streamlining business processes and simplifying licensing procedures has been lauded as a significant achievement within his short tenure.

The image maker harped on celebrating these accomplishments, rather than perpetuating unfounded narratives.

“The achievements of Captain Chris Najomo within four months is unheralded in the history of the NCAA and these are the facts that we should be pushing out there rather than coming up with these fictitious stories”.

He reiterated the NCAA adherence to strict procurement procedures, emphasizing that, no funds have been allocated for vehicle purchases and even directors have not received operational vehicles.

“Again, I reiterate that there is no truth to that story. We stand by the DG because we know how our processes work. The NCAA follows due process in its procurement and not a dime has been paid for any vehicle”.

Mr. Achimugu reassured stakeholders that, the NCAA remains dedicated to fostering a thriving Nigerian aviation sector under Captain Najomo’s capable leadership.

“We’d like to once again tell our friends our partners, the stakeholders to relax, go on with their normal businesses understand that there’s no truth to this story our only mission is to improve the aviation sector in Nigeria Regulatory wise and Captain Chris Najomo has been a very great job”.
