Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), recently welcomed the reigning NIGAV King and Queen, Henry Chika and Aisha Yakub, in a visit that highlighted the importance of professionalism and respect within Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The duo, winners of the prestigious pageant organized by the Nigerian Aviation (NIGAV) Awards, are ambassadors for exemplary conduct in the industry.

Henry Chika, a purser with ValuJet Airlines, and Aisha Yakub, a flight attendant with XEjet, were received at MMA2, a terminal recognized for its dedication to passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Their visit is an evidence of the necessity of a harmonious and respectful environment for all aviation stakeholders.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Remi Jibodu, Acting Chief Operating Officer of BASL, extended a warm welcome to the King and Queen.

“We are pleased to welcome the King and Queen of the Air to MMA2 and celebrate their achievements”.

He emphasized the pageant’s role as a unifying platform for the aviation industry, reminding all of the shared values of safety, professionalism, and respect.

Jibodu also noted with pride that both ValuJet Airlines and XEjet are partners in MMA2’s Premium Departure Concierge Service, reinforcing the high standards maintained through collaboration with stakeholders.

The visionary organizer of the NIGAV Awards and the King and Queen of the Air platform, Mr. Fortune Idu, commended BASL’s hospitality and continued support for initiatives that elevate industry standards.

“This platform was created to empower cabin crew members and give them visibility on key issues. We are proud to see how it continues to inspire and unify the aviation community”.

During their visit, the King and Queen engaged in critical discussions with BASL executives, aligning with the organization’s Zero Tolerance for Violence policy.

Conversations focused on the increasing incidents of unruly passengers and the urgent need for multi-stakeholder advocacy to curb this trend, thereby reinforcing values of respect and safety in aviation.

In response to these concerns, Jibodu reiterated BASL’s unwavering policy against any form of violence, vandalism, or disruptive conduct within its premises.

He strongly urged passengers to channel grievances through appropriate and lawful means, as outlined by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs).

The airport management affirmed its commitment to taking decisive legal action, including prosecution and potential inclusion on “no-fly” lists, against anyone violating these regulations.

Head of Space and Premises and acting COO at BASL, Kola Bamigboye also congratulated the reigning King and Queen.

He acknowledged the frustrations that can arise from flight cancellations and delays but urged passengers to address their concerns through the appropriate channels, as clearly defined in Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs).

These regulations delineate the rights and responsibilities of passengers, as well as the obligations of airlines, travel agents, and tour operators.
