Flight operations this morning was disrupted at the Lagos airport as members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the United Labour Congres, ULC and all its affiliate bodies in the Aviation industry stormed the two terminals.
This led to a gridlock around the airport environment as passengers and motorists found it difficult to navigate into and out of the airport.
All the airline counters in the two local terminals were shut ,Air peace,Arik and Medview who put up strong fight against members of Unions from crippling their operations were over-powered by the large turn out of the protesting members.
The disruption of flight activities lasted over four hours after which the protesting union members moved over to the airline headquarters around the airport environment.
As at the time of this report the Arik air terminal was deserted while that of AirPeace was operating skeletal services.
Vice President, NLC, comrade Ameachi Asogone said the,”disruption of flights is not to stop the movement of the people but to register the dissatisfaction of Nigeria workers as regards the continued delay of the new minimum wage”.
Speaking on the development, spokesman for AirPeace, Mr. Chris Iwarah said the disruption of their flight operations early this morning by the union members had a negative impart on their operations.
However, flight operations have since commenced.
