Concerned Nigerians and in the Diaspora under the aegis of Legacy Initiative International want Religious leaders in the country to join forces to save the country from bad leadership and senseless killings.
According to the group, it is time to hand over the nation to God to take absolute control through leaders of integrity, God fearing and ready to serve without putting his/her interest first.
Speaking at a World Press Conference in Lagos to unveil the Legacy Initiative International to Nigerians, the grand patron of the Legacy group, Dr. Kenny Martin said money and military politics must stop, adding that religious leaders of Christian and muslim faiths should come together to chose candidates irrespective of religious background who has been found to be worthy to occupy position of authorities in the nation.
“It is not difficult to imagine what will be the outcome if the top hierarchy of our Christian and Muslim leaders, with all their wisdom and spiritual disposal will narrow their choice to a single candidate in a Presidential or gubernatorial election. Such candidate will win easily without having to break any Bank, and when he or she is in office there will be no doubt that the person will be constantly conscious of the divine route through which he or she got into office and the consequences of not governing in the best way possible”.
Dr. Martins emphasized that the issues of ethnicity and Religious intolerance, in the Nigerian politics and corruption are issues that must be addressed urgently and objectively.
“The first in my own opinion is the Security problems around the country with different brand names ranging from; Farmer- Herdsmen clashes to Bandits – Citizens clashes. Militancy, and deliberate destruction of our economic infrastructure in some regions of the Country”, he added.
“Our current score card in the corruption index is nothing for anybody to be happy about. Whether corruption is fighting back or not, we urge the Federal Government to double its effort to make sure that our Country is not overwhelmed by the evil of official corruption”.
Ahead of the 2018 General elections, the Legacy grand patron appealed to players in the elections not to take the exercise as a do or die affair but to play according to the rules.
“This is an election year and the election fever is on. We urge all the players to play by the rules and the umpire to acquit itself creditably. The eyes of the whole world are now on Nigeria and will be so until the elections are concluded early next year. We believe that by this time next year after the elections have come and gone that our Country will be even stronger and our economy even more robust”.
Dr. Martins noted that the organization was neither partisan or a member of any political parties stressed that their goals was peaceful co-existence of all religion and ethnic groups as well as good leadership for the country.
“Organization is neither a Religious organization nor a Partisan Political organization. In fact, we see ourselves only as a social organization attempting to tackle a social problem through building of concessions among our National elites.
Among our members are seasoned professionals from different illustrious backgrounds, great women of substance and very vibrant youths from all parts of the Country. We also have members who are Nigerians living in the diaspora”.
