A new book, “Nigeria’s Aviation Sector: People, Behaviors Behind the Performances,” has been hailed as a roadmap for future improvements and a deeper understanding of the industry’s complexities.
The book, written by aviation journalist Albinus Chiedu, was launched in Lagos and received praise from Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo, who was represented by his special assistant, Janet Oputa.
Keyamo represented by his Special Assistant, Mrs. Janet Oputa, commended the author for his insightful exploration of the human element that drives the aviation sector, saying that the book is not just a collection of facts and figures, but a nuanced examination of the behaviors and attitudes that influence performance.
He emphasized the importance of understanding these factors, particularly in an era of transformation and growth, and noted that the book’s insights will serve as a guiding light for policymakers, industry professionals, and anyone with a vested interest in the progress of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The reviewer of the book, Dr. Richard Aisuebeogun, a Former Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), praised the book’s comprehensive approach, highlighting the impact of human behavior and conduct on the entire aviation ecosystem.
He commended the writer for his engaging writing style and motivation to document the thoughts and behaviors of individuals and their impact on the industry’s performance.
Other guests at the launch, including former Managing Director of Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Alhaji Oluropo Owolabi and former President of Aviation Safety Roundtable Initiative (ASRTI) Dr. Gbenga, also praised author’s contribution to promoting the growth and development of the sector.
In his opening remarks, Chiedu emphasized that the book is his small contribution to accessing a better future for Nigeria’s aviation industry and urged policy decision makers and every stakeholder to read the book, conduct further research, and expand on the issues presented in the interest of the future.
The book, which contains 206 pages of text, photographs, and advertisements, is a must-read for anyone interested in the aviation sector, as it highlights the impact of human behavior and conduct on the industry’s performance, both positively and negatively.
