A Mattini Air Challenger 601-3R aircraft (nationality and registration N580KR) overshot the runway at Ibadan’s Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport yesterday during landing at approximately 10:55 AM local time.

Fortunately, all 12 passengers and 3 crew members safely evacuated the plane, preventing any casualties.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has immediately deployed a team to investigate the incident.

They encourage the public to share any relevant information, including video clips or eyewitness accounts, that could assist the investigation.

“We urge the public and press to respect the privacy of those involved and avoid speculating on the cause until the official report is released,” emphasized NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Bimbo Oladeji. A preliminary report is expected soon.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has initiated an economic inquiry to ensure the Mattini Air flight complied with its valid Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF).

“Based on this incident and in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act 2022, the NCAA has suspended Mattini Airline Services Limited’s PNCF effective immediately,” stated NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Micheal Achimugu. The suspension will remain in place until confirmed adherence to PNCF conditions.

Furthermore, the NCAA has announced a comprehensive safety and economic audit of all private jet operations in Nigeria to reinforce safety standards and best practices.

The NCAA assures the public of its unwavering commitment to passenger safety and upholding global aviation regulations.
