In a bid to combat corruption within the organization, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) collaborated with various anti-corruption agencies to conduct a comprehensive system study at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.
The initiative kicked off with an informative session at the Firebay, as contained in a statement aimed to educate participants on strategies for eradicating corruption in the workplace and environment.
According to the statement, the event commenced with preparatory exercises designed to engage attendees, followed by a main lecture titled “CORRUPTION IS A VIRUS.”
Representative of the ICPC, in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Mrs. Njideka Nwobu, delivered a detailed presentation that covered nature and examples of corruption, the Seven Deadly Sins (SDS) of corruption, and social factors influencing corrupt behavior.
She also proposed actions to eliminate corruption in the workplace.
A significant portion of the session was dedicated to the theme “INTEGRITY MY WATCHWORD.”
Dr. Nwobu elaborated on the acronym and definition of integrity, its relevance in the workplace, and identified traits and attributes of individuals with true integrity.
She stressed the importance of integrity in personal and professional life and provided practical steps on enhancing integrity in the workplace, as outlined in distributed handbooks.
To reinforce anti-corruption knowledge and principles, attendees were required to undergo a test meeting of ICPC standards.
All staff members present were encouraged to anonymously submit complaints and challenges they encounter at the airport via a designated form.
These submissions are to be forwarded to headquarters for thorough review by management.
