The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed that it has launched an investigation into a serious incident involving a Fly Bird HS 125 aircraft on Thursday, December 6, 2024.

The aircraft, en route from Abuja to Accra, encountered multiple engine-related issues during its flight.

The crew, displaying exceptional skill and composure, successfully diverted the aircraft back to Abuja Airport, where it made a safe emergency landing.

Fortunately, all four individuals on board, including three crew members and one passenger, emerged unscathed from the incident.

The NSIB’s Go Team is currently on the ground, diligently collecting evidence and interviewing relevant personnel to ascertain the root causes of the engine failures.

A thorough examination of the aircraft’s flight data recorders and maintenance records will be conducted to identify any potential contributing factors.

The Bureau says, it remains committed to its primary objective of enhancing aviation safety within Nigeria.

Through rigorous investigation and analysis, the NSIB stressed it aims to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure the continued safety of air travel.
