Finchglow GMD Commends Aviation Minister for Visibility, Urges Focus on Cargo Export

The Group Managing Director, Finchglow Holdings, Mr. Bankole Bernard, has commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, for his efforts in raising the profile of the aviation sector. 

In an interview, Bernard acknowledged the Minister’s high visibility and active engagement, stating, “If there’s anything our minister has done for us, our minister has created some level of awareness. You might say it counts for nothing. For me, it counts for everything.”

He emphasized the importance of visibility and perception, stating that the Minister’s active presence has brought the aviation sector into the public spotlight. 

The Finchglow GMD further compared the Minister’s approach to other ministries, highlighting the lack of public awareness surrounding some other sectors.

While acknowledging the Minister’s efforts, Bernard stressed the need for tangible results, particularly in the area of air cargo exports. 

He pointed out that while the government plays a crucial role in policy formulation and regulation, a deeper understanding of the industry is necessary for effective implementation.

Highlighting the challenges facing the current cargo business in Nigeria, Bernard pointed out the need for streamlined policies and improved infrastructure, calling for a more collaborative approach between the government and industry stakeholders, 

Emphasizing the importance of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning and the critical role of air cargo exports in the Nigerian economy, he called for government intervention to address key challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, poor packaging, and a lack of skilled personnel. 

The Finchglow boss also stressed the importance of leveraging existing infrastructure, such as state-owned airports, to develop dedicated cargo hubs.
