The Nigeria Government has issued a travel alert to citizens planning to visit the United Kingdom due to an increased risk of violence and disorder following recent riots.

These riots were sparked by the killing of three young girls at a concert.

In a statement, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the violence has escalated significantly, with reported attacks on law enforcement agents and damage to infrastructure.

Citizens are advised to be extremely vigilant and avoid political processions, protests, rallies, or marches.

The statement urges Nigerians to contact the High Commission to share any relevant information via email at hc@nigeriahc.org.uk or by phone at +44 20 7839 1244.

Recent demonstrations by far-right and other extra-parliamentary groups in parts of the UK have been large and, at times, unruly.

These disturbances have been exacerbated by the tragic deaths of the three girls, fueling an anti-immigration sentiment, particularly targeting Muslim immigrants and people of color.
