…as NANTA Pledges Support
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reiterated its commitment to transforming the nation’s airports into world-class facilities.
According to the Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, these changes are aimed at enhancing passenger experience and projecting a positive image of Nigeria to the world.
During a courtesy visit by the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Kuku emphasized a zero-tolerance stance against activities that compromise passenger safety, including harassment and touting.
She commended NANTA’s advocacy for fair play in the aviation sector and pledged to collaborate with the association to address industry challenges.
“We are open to working with NANTA to improve the airport environment for all stakeholders”.
“Your ideas and collaboration are crucial to enhancing passenger service, providing accurate travel information, and eradicating touting.”
In response to NANTA’s request for dedicated help desks at airports, Kuku expressed support for the initiative, noting its importance in the ongoing transformation. She directed NANTA to submit a list of members to work closely with FAAN’s protocol unit.
She also acknowledged challenges such as ticket racketeering, unauthorized personnel, and collusion between airline staff and ticket scalpers.
The FAAN boss assured that FAAN, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), will address these issues.
NANTA President Yinka Folami praised FAAN’s efforts in transforming the airports and called for a strategic partnership to combat touting, streamline passenger transfer services, and improve overall passenger experience.
Folami also requested a dedicated NANTA pavilion at airports nationwide to provide information to travelers.
Both FAAN and NANTA expressed their commitment to ongoing engagement to enhance the travel experience for Nigerians and visitors alike.
