The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has distinguished itself as a top-performing agency in Nigeria, following the recent 120-Day Regulatory Reform Accelerator (RRA) by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
Announced on June 28th at the Old Banquet Hall at the State House in Abuja, the event, organized by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, assessed various government agencies’ performances in the Regulatory Reform Accelerator.
The aim was to implement tangible reforms to enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
FAAN achieved an impressive score of 96.2%, placing it among the top-rated agencies in the Ease of Doing Business scorecard by the Federal Government.
This is a significant improvement from its previous standing near the bottom of the ratings. Under the leadership of Managing Director/Chief Executive Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN has made remarkable progress, moving from a zero score to an impressive 96.2%.
Director of Special Duties, Mr. Henry Agbebire, who oversees PEBEC initiatives for FAAN, stated, “We embraced all significant reform initiatives of PEBEC. Aligned with our strategic goals, we will continue to enhance the quality of our airport infrastructure and passengers’ experience. FAAN is committed to sustaining the implemented reforms and achieving the outstanding 3.8% to reach 100% as PEBEC moves into the next phase of the RRA, which will focus on Third Party Validation.”
FAAN’s success is attributed to several key initiatives, including the development of new Service Legal Agreements (SLAs) benchmarked against international airports, the provision of high-speed internet at airports, the deployment and maintenance of CCTV systems, and the introduction of QR Codes for passengers.
Since her appointment, Mrs. Kuku has emphasized prioritizing passenger facilitation and comfort, alongside addressing the needs of the airports.
