The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has closed a KFC outlet at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos following a complaint of discrimination against a passenger with reduced mobility (PRM).
The action comes after a social media post by the passenger alleging they were mistreated at the airport.
FAAN, committed to upholding passenger rights under Lagos State Law on People with Special Needs, promptly launched an investigation into the matter.
A team led by FAAN’s Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, including representatives from Public Affairs, Consumer Protection, and Regional Management, investigated the incident.
Based on their findings, FAAN ordered the closure of the KFC outlet.
KFC management will be required to submit a written apology to the affected passenger and implement a clear policy statement against discrimination displayed prominently at the restaurant before it can resume operations.
FAAN sincerely apologizes to the passenger for their experience and assures all airport users of their unwavering commitment to ensuring a discrimination-free environment for everyone.
