The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured Nigerians of enhanced security measures during this Yuletide season, prioritizing the safety of travelers’ lives and property.
The Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua says, FAAN has expanded screening areas for a better flying experience.
He explains what passengers should know and do for seamless facilitation, which are as follows;
Be vigilant with your valuables during the screening process.
A joint task force ensures smooth traffic flow at the land side, so park your vehicle properly to prevent towing.
Travelers are urged to arrive early to avoid rush and potential flight misses.
For international flights, the agency appealed to passengers to arrive three hours before departure, and for local flights, arrive two hours prior, adding that, passengers should pack their luggage personally and refrain from assisting others.
Report any assistance/needs to airport officials, and never leave your luggage unattended.
Avoid touts’ services.
Say no to bribes and extortion.
Adhere to rules on prohibited items, liquids, and gels.
Utilize information desks at all airports for assistance.
The statement adds that, FAAN strongly condemns extortion, deploying undercover staff to monitor and report any misconduct at airports.
“The MD of FAAN issued severe warnings to staff and government agencies operating at airports, emphasizing punishment for culpable individuals”.
It adds, “FAAN wishes Nigerians and visitors an enjoyable holiday within and outside the country”.
