Nigerian Hajj pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia this year, 2024 can expect better services at all airports involved in their journey, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
This comes after the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) announced an earlier than usual timeline for Hajj preparations.
FAAN’s commitment to a smooth travel experience for pilgrims was reaffirmed by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the agency’s spokesperson, during a press briefing in Lagos.
She emphasized collaboration with airlines, ground handling companies, and other stakeholders to streamline operations and expedite the airlift of pilgrims.
Improvements will include shorter queues, faster processing times, and better baggage handling.
According to Mrs. Orah, a new system will be implemented to ensure a smoother flow of passengers and luggage, addressing delays experienced in previous years.
“We are bringing a lot of changes to how we handle hajj operations in our airports ranging from the queue that pilgrims experience in the past in our airports as they are going to hajj and having to queue up for a long time, conveying their properties and the services render them, all those delays, we are bringing in a new system that will create an ease of movement for both the passengers and the goods.”
She promised FAAN is also prioritizing excellent customer service and a clean environment throughout the Hajj period, with the goal of providing a positive experience for all travelers.
