

The Murtala Mohammed International Airport now wears a new look with the inauguration of a multi-storey car park with the capacity to take more than one thousand vehicles at a time.
To this end all vehicles after drop off are expected to use the facility.
Escort and VIP’s vehicles henceforth parked in front and around the Lagos international airport terminal are to be tolled away and released after the payment of a fine.
Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Mr. Saleh stated this at the inauguration of a multi-storey car park at the airport.
He said, the authority would no longer tolerate any excuse of inadequate parking space with the existence of the new car park.
“The facility which is being commissioned today is a six level car park facility of 1300 cars parking capacity built on a land measuring 9119.969m2, with a 30 years tenure”.
Mr. Saleh represented by the Director, Engineering services in the agency, Salisu Daura stressed that the new car park is meant to reduce the menace of indiscriminate parking in and around the airport, adding that the departure frontage has been restricted only to drop off zone.
He explained that all airport users and travellers including escort vehicles are expected after drop off to move to the car park.
According to him,”it will improve passenger facilitation and reduce the menace of indiscriminate parking within and around the airport,the project is one of the numerous partnerships FAAN has, and is exploring to improve the infrastructural developments at our airports”.
Mr. Saleh disclosed that a task force had been constituted to ensure that all comply with the arrangement in place to ensure security and sanity in the area.
The multi- storey car park under the public private partnership,PPP has six level floors with the capacity to handle one thousand, three hundred vehicles, powered by FAAN and concessioned for 30 years.
The FAAN boss also advised air travellers to exercise restraint while driving to the airport from oshodi due to the on- going reconstruction of the airport- oshodi road by the Lagos state government.
Car parking in the facility costs N500 and N600 per hour respectively for cars and SUVs respectively, while additional parking hour attracts N100 only. It costs N1000 for buses and N200 for additional hour. However, you must be very careful with your parking ticket as loss of ticket attracts a penalty of N5000 plus payment for time used
