The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has received accolades for her proactive role in elevating the hospitality sector within the aviation industry.
Kuku’s vision, as part of FAAN’s broader airport development plan, aims to enhance passenger experience, safety, and comfort.
By prioritizing the development of hospitality infrastructure around airports nationwide, the agency seeks to ensure seamless travel and timely flight connections.
One such initiative is the Firecoop Aviators’ Lodge, a facility jointly owned by aviation industry stakeholders.
The lodge, strategically located near the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, offers convenient accommodation for travelers.
At the inauguration of the facility, Kuku represented by the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection FAAN, Mrs Obiageli Orah emphasized the importance of such facilities in improving passenger experience, especially considering the potential traffic challenges associated with airport access.
“The Firecoop Aviators’ Lodge is a prime example of the kind of infrastructure we need to elevate our industry. FAAN remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance passenger satisfaction and contribute to the overall development of the aviation sector.”
Alhaji Saheed Sadiq, President of the Airports Fire and Safety Multipurpose Cooperative Society (AFSMCS), which manages the lodge, highlighted the significant impact of Kuku’s leadership on the facility’s growth and patronage.
“Since Mrs. Kuku assumed office, we’ve witnessed a remarkable increase in patronage,her intervention has been instrumental in repositioning the lodge and ensuring its success.”
Sadiq echoed Kuku’s sentiments, expressing gratitude for FAAN’s support in various aspects, including power supply.
He further highlighted the strategic importance of the lodge in facilitating seamless travel and attracting tourists.
While acknowledging the progress made, Sadiq appealed for continued support from FAAN and other industry stakeholders to complete the furnishing of the new wing of the lodge.
He also urged the government to address the deteriorating road conditions in the area.
