FAAN investigates mangled body found on Lagos airport runway Thursday

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has commenced full scale investigation to the mangled body found on the runway of the Lagos International airport on Thursday.

The Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Faithful Hope-Ivbaze in a press release says, the investigation is to find out the identify of the body and what actually happened.

The unidentified human remains was found on Runway 18R/36L on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

According to her, the mangled body was discovered by motorized cleaner, that was cleared to carry out a derruberization and sweeping of the runway at about 0106hours, “and escalated the situation to relevant departments”. 

“Aa result, between 0110 and 0343 hours, the runway was temporarily closed to allow for immediate evacuation of the remains”. 

“While flight operations resumed at 0343 hours”.
