The Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between FAAN and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
She made this call during a visit by the 59th President of ICAN, Dr. Innocent Okwuosa, and his team to FAAN headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
Kuku praised the over 100 accountants working with FAAN, stating that they have consistently demonstrated transparency, integrity, and commitment in their work.
She expressed FAAN’s desire to strengthen its partnership with ICAN, leveraging on the visit to foster greater collaboration between the two organizations.
ICAN, Kuku noted, has played a crucial role in training and retraining accountants across the country to provide professional accounting services.
She commended ICAN’s efforts to maintain professionalism and competence among its members.
The FAAN Managing Director emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring that airport services meet international standards for safety, security, and efficiency.
She also highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and integrity in FAAN’s operations.
Dr. Okwuosa, the ICAN President, thanked Kuku for the warm welcome and expressed ICAN’s interest in partnering with FAAN on capacity building to equip its members.
He praised Kuku for being a trailblazer as the first woman to hold the position of FAAN Managing Director, inspiring women across the country to pursue leadership roles.
Okwuosa acknowledged FAAN’s significant role in aviation infrastructure development, citing the agency’s efforts to minimize accidents and incidents in the sector.
He appealed to Kuku to support ICAN members working with FAAN by sponsoring them to attend the ICAN annual conference in October and other international conferences.
He also requested that FAAN establish an ICAN Chapter to facilitate greater collaboration between the two organizations.
