The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has denied reports circulating online that a pregnant woman was raped to death at the Owerri Airport.
In a statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Orah Obiageli, FAAN clarified that the unfortunate incident occurred outside the airport premises, near the Umueze Community.
According to her, the victim, identified as Mrs. Chinwendu Amadi, was discovered with stab wounds on her abdomen.
Mrs Obiageli explained that, security operatives at the airport were immediately alerted and cooperated with local police to investigate the matter.
While Initial findings suggest that the deceased was not murdered at the location where her body was found.
FAAN urged the public to disregard the false information and to assist law enforcement agencies in their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
