…..”our hearts reflect who we are”

The Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has urged Muslims within Nigeria’s airport communities to continue praying for the development of the aviation sector while promoting unity and peaceful coexistence.

Mrs. Kuku made this call during an Iftar dinner she hosted at FAAN’s corporate headquarters in Lagos, where she gathered with over 300 Muslim faithful from the Murtala Muhammed Airport and surrounding areas.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to break their fast, observe the Maghrib prayer, and engage with the FAAN MD in private discussions.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Kuku underlined the importance of moral conduct in both private and public life.

Reflecting on her upbringing in a Muslim household under her grandmother’s care, she stressed the role of strong religious values in shaping individuals and fostering national development.

“My grandmother is a Muslim, and I was raised in a Muslim family,” she said. “But religion does not define or divide us, it is our hearts that reflect who we are. This period of Ramadan coincides with Lent, reminding us that despite our different faiths, we are one people.”

She expressed gratitude for the continued prayers from the Muslim community, attributing recent progress in the aviation sector to their spiritual support.

“I appreciate your prayers; they are indeed working for the growth of our airports”.

The FAAN MD encouraged the community to embrace inclusiveness, urging them to reflect on their journey and consider how they can support others in their path forward.

FAAN’s Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, described the Iftar dinner as a demonstration of Mrs. Kuku’s commitment to strengthening ties with various religious groups in the airport community.

He highlighted Ramadan as a period of prayer, generosity, and kindness, emphasizing the significance of sharing meals with others.

Quoting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Capt. Mahmood noted that sharing food with others brings blessings, while hosting even perceived adversaries fosters peace and goodwill.
