…to deploy HF transceiver, conducts factory tests
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is about to upgrade, modernize its airspace infrastructure with the planned deployment of the Rohde & Schwarz High-Frequency (HF) transceiver.
This advanced system incorporates sophisticated signal processing algorithms designed to significantly reduce the noise typically associated with traditional HF systems.
This technological advancement is expected to substantially improve long-range air-to-ground communication capabilities across Nigerian airspace.
The new HF solution is specifically engineered to overcome the range limitations of the currently utilized Very High Frequency (VHF) systems.
According to a statement by the Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, once deployed, it will provide robust and reliable communication coverage over the Gulf of Guinea, extending far into the Atlantic Ocean, and across the northern desert regions beyond the Kano Flight Information Region (FIR).
He said, a team of officials led by the managing Director, NAMA, Engr. Farouk Umar are currently in Germany to conduct a factory assessment test (FAT) on vital communication equipment at the Rhode and Schwarz factory.
This equipment is crucial for enhancing the efficiency of NAMA’s air-ground communication infrastructure.
During their visit, they are scheduled to hold high-level discussions with representatives from Rhode and Schwarz, as well as Deo Makro Ltd., the local contractor that facilitated this important engagement.
Speaking about the ongoing visit, Engr. Umar expressed strong optimism regarding the impact of the new communication equipment.
He stated that its deployment would significantly boost upper airspace communication within the country.
The NAMA boss emphasized that “this move aligns with the commitment of the President towards enhancing the safety of the sector through upgrading and modernizing airspace infrastructure.”
