Ethiopian Airlines Group today inaugurated the newly constructed Wako Gutu Airport Terminal in Bale Robe, Oromia Regional State.
The ceremony was attended by H.E. Shimelis Abdisa, President of the Oromia Regional State, government officials, Ethiopian Airlines executives, and dignitaries.
The state-of-the-art terminal is designed to enhance domestic air travel connectivity and boost socio-economic development in the region.
“We are thrilled to unveil this upgraded terminal, which will significantly improve the travel experience for passengers,” said Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group.
“This investment underscores our commitment to enhancing airport infrastructure across our domestic network.”
Bale Robe serves as a gateway to major tourist attractions, including the renowned Sof Omar cave and the Bale Mountains National Park. Increased air connectivity is expected to further stimulate tourism growth in the region.
Ethiopian Airlines operates up to 14 weekly flights to and from Robe Wako Gutu Airport, demonstrating its dedication to expanding regional air travel within Ethiopia.
This inauguration follows the recent opening of new terminals in Gode and Jinka, the renovation of Addis Ababa Bole International Airport’s Domestic Terminal, and the resumption of services to Dembi Dollo and Axum Airports.
Since acquiring Ethiopian Airports Enterprise in 2017, Ethiopian Airlines Group has overseen the construction and renovation of airports across the country.
