Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest network operating carrier and one of the world’s fastest-growing airline brands, officially launched its new passenger service to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
The inaugural flight was marked by a vibrant ceremony attended by ambassadors, senior government officials, and executives from Ethiopian Airlines.
The new route will operate four times a week, providing convenient travel options between Sharjah and Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network.
This new connection is expected to significantly boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Africa and the Middle East.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, expressed his enthusiasm about the new service, stating, “We are truly delighted to connect our passengers to an additional gateway in the UAE with our new flights to Sharjah”.
“We have been connecting the UAE and Africa for nearly five decades now, and the new service will help boost the investment, tourism, diplomatic, and socioeconomic bonds between the two regions.”
Ethiopian Airlines has historically provided cargo services to Sharjah, a city renowned for its rich history, cultural heritage, and dynamic business environment.
With the introduction of passenger flights, the airline now offers a convenient travel option for both business and leisure travelers.

Sharjah, the third-largest emirate in the UAE, becomes Ethiopian Airlines’ second passenger destination in the country.
